Rethinking the Great American Childhood

Rethinking the Great American Childhood

What is happening to the idea of the Great American Childhood? A recent story in USA Today recently looked at the skyrocketing rates of children with chronic disease. More than 25 percent of the nation’s children now have a long-term health problem. The statistics are especially alarming -- and confounding – for the rise in childhood asthma cases. One in nearly 10 kids has asthma. One in five between the ages of 9 and 17 has a mental illness. Childhood obesity has reached epidemic levels.

Our most vulnerable and precious resource deserves better. Please join us in doing what we can to ensure a bright future for our children.
